Budget airline WOW is expanding its United States no-frills network to California next summer.
The Icelandic airline will fly from Reykjavik's Keflavik airport to Los Angeles and San Francisco using 3 new widebody twin-aisle Airbus A330-300 jets - it currently uses smaller single aisle Airbus A321 planes on its East Coast US routes.
British travellers will be able to connect with the California flights via WOW's services from Gatwick, which already feed in to its links to Boston and Washington DC on America's East Coast and also to Toronto and Montreal in Canada, which get flights starting from May.
LA will get four flights a week and San Francisco five, all year round.
The trip via Iceland will typically add around two hours to a direct flight time - including a one-hour connection in Rekyjavik making the journey to LA around 13hrs and San Francisco about 12.5hrs.
