Dubai Airshow 2015 - between a sandstorm and rain... <added>

Post by Worldnis »

Away on business passing through Dubai during the airshow. Wednesday's flying cancelled due to a huge sandstorm and gusts, Thursday presented the first rain in ?? months and torrential it was! Anyway, took a gamble to go out there in the afternoon and had a good time in the final two hours of the show. Mind you, this is not a show for the fainthearted regarding banners, cones, ropes, umbrella's, selfietakers, etc. So if you are totally put off by these, thanks for reading, for everyone else, here's my unedited take on DAS15.

Oh yes, before I forget. The Frecci guys when training the Al Fursan pilots probably never told them that there is actually an off-switch for the SMOKE during the flight. Therefore I just did not feel up to getting any.

MIL Flying Program on Wed 11 was cancelled due to sandstorm, for the final day 12 Nov the program was:
- opening Frecce Tricolori
- M20009-EAD UAE AF
- Typhoon
- B-1B
- Super Mushak (Pak AF)
- F-22A
- Rafale (AdlA)
- F-16E UAE AF
- close Al Fursan

Although the Dassault guys do have a good year with Egypt and Qatar sales, to be at an air show behind the F-22 and after a very good Typhoon display as well must be disappointing. Anyway you can't get those F-22's anyway.

Final pics:
Image
394 Super Mushak & smoke on; distance and weather made this difficult to catch
Image
735 Mirage 2000-9EAD UAE AF same story, weather, distance, very much below standard picture-wise
Image
431/1 MB339NAT Al Fursan; there was another MB339 coded '1' in the flying program
Image
With the Vulcan gone we will have to do with this 'bomb bay shot'

Thanks for looking

Rob
