Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).
Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.
wamovements wrote:Sadly this is the best I have of them, clearly a single seat A-7 and a SEA camo RF-4E, sadly no ID. Howmany RF-4Es did they operate in this camo? as I can rule out 71762/71764 and 7491. As 71765 is still operational (was at Andravida or at QRA) only 7486 and 7508 are likely candidates for this one as all others have been seen on different locations or are in different camo. This one is here since oct12.
Why would 71765 be on QRA or at Andravida? No RF-4s are based at Andravida and they would certainly not be on QRA.
According to commander 348 1 more RF-4 was on QRA and one RF-4 was at Andravida for static display.
The RF-4E of 348.Sq are also performing QRA-duties, and the one RF-4E in Andravida was there, because of the SOT (Weapons Tactic School).
OK, that's what I also heard at the museum in Dekelia earlier this year: "later in 2016". I was hoping plans would have changed in the meantime.. But indeed, you never know in Greece!

According commander current funds forsee withdrawal within a year. But Greece is not known for its excellent knowledge about funds so you never know
NO update will be preform on the RF's. Main problem is the spare of ejectionseat explosives. For some years we here "this will be the last year of service, 348 will be stand down and/or the last Recce will move to 117CW". All this has been changed every year! From the 10 ops Phantoms used in a pool, some 6 are ops as of now. 2016 will have RF's flying, but IF this will be the last year... We have to wait for that. The wfu from A-7 showed us how fast thing can change...

No more RF-4E maintenance is done at Tanagra, Phantoms that should be send to Tanagra are nowadays withdrawn from use at Larissa (e.g. 7491/7511/7519/71762/71764). All RF-4E maintenance is done by 348 MTA at Larissa. The "Pool" Paul is talking about, no longer exists. Flying activity of the RF-4Es (except for QRA) is limited to monday only.
