According to this article, ANA has ordered or will order 3 A380 from Airbus. These will be used for their Tokyo - Hawaii route. It is not confirmed by Airbus, nor by ANA, but if true would be a major order. Even if for only 3 aircraft...
Not completed indeed, but c/n 196 was supposed to go to Transaero and parts may have already been under construction. Or so the word goes. So it may be that Airbus already has a partly built plane that otherwise would end up being written off again. But again, only from the thread on A.net, I have no specific info on this.
No worries Erwin. AFAIK, no pieces for 196 were built as I believe that the delivery had been deferred anyway prior to Transaero getting into financial difficulties. I ANA do order MSN 196 then I would expect it to be built and fitted into the current build program depending on the planned delivery schedule.
This now is more or less confirmed. This document from Airbus shows an order for three A380 of an undisclosed customer. Some confirmation still needed that indeed it is ANA, but there are no other possible orders floating arround. It also shows the deal was still done in 2015 by the way.
