Gazpromavia ends scheduled tu-154 operations

Post by f4phantom »

from ch-aviation.com

Gazpromavia (4G, Moscow Ostafyevo) is set to conclude scheduled Tu-154M operations later next month ch-aviation can exclusively reveal.

Schedule data indicates the type will operate its last flight - Ufa to Moscow Vnukovo via Novy Urengoy - on May 25. The date and routing, however, are subject to change.

A unit of Russian petroleum giant Gazprom, Gazpromavia operates scheduled and chartered, passenger and cargo flights across Russia, mainly in support of the oil and gas industry.

This is very bad news. Almost the end of the Tu-154 in Airline service in Russia. It was always difficult to buy Gazpromavia Tu-154 tickets on the internet but I managed to book VKO-MCX-VKO in 2013 and AER-VKO in 2015. Only Alrosa will be the alternative this summer between DME-PYJ and PYJ-OVB with their sole operational Tu-154 RA-85684. Will this Tu-154 in the new Alrosa c/s close the iron Tu-154 curtain forever ?

Looks like they will continue flying charter flights just like Belavia does now with their Tu-154's. One report i saw mentions that Belavia will retire their Tu-154's from their fleet in september this year exept the VIP/government one and i think that Gazpromavia will retire them later this year when enough Sukhoi Superjets or B737's are delivered.
