If anyone is heading in that direction, Mr Starman would be very interested to see a pic of (the mortal remains of?) their F-104 in the light caliber firing range - I´m sure there is a very simple 20+ character German word for that (Lichtkalibertestschießstand perhaps). Waiting ....

I just checked the venue against the location of the Starfighter in Münster; unfortunately, they are at two different locations. The Tag der Bundeswehr is at the barracks to the southwest of the town, whereas the Starfighter and Mi8 are preserved at the (smaller) barracks to the northeast of the town. Still visible on Google Earth though..

12 june is a GAF C-160D expected at the FMO Sommerfest.
That is Flughafen Munster-Osnabruck (with or without Umlaut what you like

)

I wish I hadn't started this. The 2224 (and before anyone complains, that is the correct way to show Lw serials, yes I know it looks daft, and it's not the way one used to write it but apparently the world changes anyway, so one has to get used to these things) is at Wehrwissenschaftliches Institut für Schutztechnologien-ABC-Schutz (WIS) at Humboldt straße 100, 29633 Munster.

The good Professor to whom I wrote not so long ago was quite clear that I could not go take a peek ... maybe some resourceful Dutch tank spotter can talk his way round. Failing that, fire up the Cessna boys, lets get it from 2500'
