Cirrus Aircraft’s Vision SF50 has entered the final stages of a 10-year certification effort, following the maiden sortie on 5 May of the first production model.
The six-seat aircraft, designated P1, took to the skies above Duluth, Minnesota after undergoing what Cirrus describes as a “deliberate and steady” production approach.
The aircraft is being painted in Duluth and will resume flight testing in late May. Cirrus says the jet will log “many flight hours”, as it will be used to certificate the interior and validate the SF50’s training programme.
Other single-engined jet programmes – such as the Diamond D-Jet, Eclipse 400, Piper Altaire and Stratos 714 – have been cancelled or are dormant.
FARNBOROUGH: Qatar doubles G650ER fleet with fresh order
11 July, 2016
Middle Eastern VIP operator Qatar Executive is set to double its Gulfstream G650ER fleet, following an order placed yesterday at the show for three more of the ultra long-range business jets. Deliveries are scheduled in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Speaking during an event to mark the deal, Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways group chief executive, said: “When all the aircraft are in service, we will be the largest G650 operator in the world.”
Al Baker also confirmed that Qatar Executive will phase out its Bombardier business jet fleet of four Global 5000s and a single XRS.

The new Google complex will reportedly be the one of the largest single-client corporate air facilities in the world.
In January 2017, groundbreaking is expected to take place on a 29-acre facility featuring approximately 270,000 square feet of hangar space. The huge swath of space will effectively become a separate airport for Google executives and other tech muckety-mucks; private aviation support firm Signature Flight Support has a 50-year lease on the facility and will operate it with a partner named Blue City Holdings.
In a statement, airport executives described San Jose-based Blue City as a "corporation representing the personal aircraft of the principals at Google" and explicitly said they would grant private airport section access to "other figures in the Silicon Valley business community as well."
So why is a significant chunk of San Jose's airport being given over to a private corporation? The answer, as always, is capital.
Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) has displayed the executive version of its Superjet 100 at an air show for only the second time as the Russian-Italian partnership works to certificate an extended-range version of the business aircraft by the start of next year.
The Sukhoi Business Jet (SBJ) made its southern hemisphere debut at the Africa Aerospace & Defence show in Waterkloof, South Africa, from 14-18 September 2016.
Displayed with a three-section interior with capacity for 19 passengers, it has a range of 4,700km.
The extended-range variant, with additional fuel tanks, will take that range to 6,000km, says SCAC.
The variant had previously been exhibited at the Jet Expo business aviation show in Moscow in 2014.
SCAC says it has delivered seven SBJs since 2015, with most sales within Russia.
Swiss VIP operator Comlux has taken delivery of one SBJ, which is still at its completions house in Indianapolis and due to enter service by the end of the year.
It plans to base the aircraft in central Asia.
