REQ 1993 Schaarsbergen/Deelen

Post by alexgoot »

Hi guys,

On 18th sept 1993 I visited Deelen to view the Market Garden flights with many other spotters...I logged the following:

F-104G D-8049 ?
F-104G D-8256 Preserved Gateguard
F-104G D-8281 GIA Schaarsbergen kazerne
NF-5A K-3046 Preserved?
Hunter F4 N-150 Dumped fire dump Schaarsbergen
F-84F P-277 Dumped fire dump Schaarsbergen

Flying on the airfield:
Hercules XV179 LTW
Hercules XV187 LTW
Hercules C3P XV290 LTW
Hercules XV301 LTW
Hercules C3P XV303 LTW
C-130E 70-1264 435th AW

There seem to be some misreads in my preserved and GIA stuff....
D-8049 went to turkey, true?? as this was the case, which F-104 did I see???
K-3046 also went to Turkey, which NF-5 did I see??

I found a log from a "show" a week earlier...but no mentioning of a NF-5 or something like the serial of the 104..the other two zippers seem to fit nicely...

who can help me out here, as I wasn't on base, the logged birds must have been noted by more souls... ;-)

Hope to hear from you!!!

Hi Alex,

I was not there that day, but only the 11th, the "openday of the LETS Schaarsbergen".
indeed no matching 104s at the LETS, maybe you saw D-8098 that was for years stored in the middle off Deelen AB?
There was no NF-5 at the LETS at 11-9-93, so can't help you on that one....

grtz,

On 07/03/1995 when I was in the Dutch military and based at Schaarsbergen I made some pictures at the LETS facility.
You can find those pictures here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/erwinalex ... 1070/page2

Now this one regarding the Alouette III serial A-274 is very interesting. Direct link to the picture >https://www.flickr.com/photos/erwinalex ... 372851070/

It has clearly the tailboom of the A-350 which is preserved at Aeroseum Gotenborg, Sweden

So, what is the real identity of what helicopter in Sweden and/or Schaarsbergen?

Beste Erwin,
