REQ: Dallas-Ft. Worth Regional Arpt Opening Day 22 Sep 73

Post by sdamico »

Does anyone have any additional info (units, serials, & modex tie-ups) for the military aircraft seen in static park? (Perhaps this was covered in BAR, SEAR, etc.)

A-6 (USMC)
C-141A
F-4J VF-121/NJ-1xx
UH-1H
CH-53A HMH-777/QM-4xx
CH-54(B?)
P-3
T-38A

Thx,
SD

P.S. There might have been other aircraft at this event--this is all I noted.

I have edited the title to include the name--not just ICAO code. Please note that the airport was originally referred to as Regional Airport (aka RAP) to emphasize that it was an airport for both cities, so I am using that description instead of the later "International Airport" by which it is now known.

Thanks for the C-5A addition!

Can't help you myself I'm afraid. But putting the airfield name in the title instead of just some abbreviation might get you more responses. I for myself have no clue what DFW means, and I am not going to bother looking it up... ;-)

I'd of thought anyone on here with double figures in brain cells would know what airport DFW was. That obviously doesn't include you.

Here's another one then, nu clue what DFW was! Many people don't talk the 3-letter code language

Standard proceedure to most people in the aviation industry. We use these all the time in my line of work.

In the States codes like DFW, JFK,LAX and SFO are used by just about anyone with any association with the industry or airports.

Yes, well, some spotters are "MIL-only". :)

They do not even want to know about civil codes or "anything civil" for that matter

Their loss...

Anybody for those serials in Dallas Fort Worth more than 43 years ago? Anyone :?:

1. Most people on this board are not in the industry
2. Most people on this board are not from the US, nor living there
3. It has been asked many, many, many times before to not use codes in topic titles, but full names instead. Where LAX, JFK and DFW are examples of the more well known ones, I will give you that, many other codes are definitely not. And then, who decides which ones are the ones everyone is supposed to know, and which ones are the odd ones?

So the question of Patrick was rather normal for this board, your first response.... maybe a bit over the top.

I'd of thought
What does that say about brain cells....?

Sorry, couldn't let that one go. And it's simply a rule on this board to use airfield names so let's just stick to the rules.
