Boeing, annoucement.

Boeing has recently decided to do away with customer specific designations to all its types.
in other words, no more type designations such as B737-8AS,B747-830 or B777-31HER.
As from now and going back to roughly to production as of August 2016,these are simply 737-800 747-8s or 777-300ERs and are shown as such in official registers.
The change seems to be in effect as of line # 6076.

Wow, strange move after doing this for years. Wondering why the made this call.
I like the way it's done now so you can quickly track soms history from that number.

Yes, like Airbus, also series, but more difficult to trace which airliner it is, for Boeing more recognizable per airline.

That line no is only for 737s.
Also, they have been doing this to the 787s for years already of course.

Does anybody know the first line numbers of the B737/747/767/777 this applies from?
In Scramble 452 there is some conflicting info.

6082 (737)
- 747 : 1534
- 767 : 1102
- 777 : 1422
