The air component of the army took delivery on Monday of its final NH90 Caiman helicopter in NFH version. The helicopter, the 8th aircraft ordered in June 2007, landed in the afternoon at Koksijde air base, military sources said.

Registered RN-04, it joined the other three Caimans in naval version ("NATO Frigate Helicopter," or NFH) in service since 2015.

AFAIK the NH90-NFH is sole replacement for the S-61. The NH90-TTH is additional transport capability for the A109. The role of the SA318 and A109 are still under evaluation as the NH90 is deemed to expensive and overqualified for SAR and the multi-role tasks for the A109 have been reduced over the years (as at this moment only 13 are active). It all comes down to choosing the best fit.

Hi all,

Thanks that clears it up more than expexted. So retire the remaining a-109's and replace them with five former dutch sa.532 mk2 cougars so they can get maintance in the netherlands. Win win :P
