Israeli C-130J pilots jailed over flyover mishap
A pair of Israeli air force pilots have spent several days in military prison following an air display mishap with two Lockheed Martin C-130Js.

The two "Samson" turboprops had taken part in a formation flight as part of the country's independence day celebrations on 2 May.

However, post-display inspections by ground crew revealed evidence that the wings of the two aircraft had come into contact.

The aircraft were withdrawn from service and an investigation launched; the captains of both C-130Js were subsequently jailed for a short period and other crew members were grounded.

The IDF safety record is pretty good. One C-130 loss in 40+ years, and a very low fast jet loss rate.
Drink treble
See double
Act single

and the Emir called up his jet fighters

Bennie's exampke has nothing to do with loses or mishaps. This sounds like a typical example of number 8 and 9 of the dirty dozen in human factors.

It sounds like the pilots did not want to tell what happend because of fair of personal problems. If you jail your personell there is not a human factors proof culture.

Well... We can only safely say that they feared something and didn't tell as a result of that. They were jailed for not telling the mishap immediately after they noticed it, not for the mishap itself.

If this is true, the fear of being punished proves that there is a safety culture in the IDF/AF that seems to leave some room for improvement.....
