Pilot ejects from F-16 at Ellington Airport
KHOU.com Staff , KHOU 11:27 AM. CDT June 21, 2017

HOUSTON -- Airport officials say a pilot ejected from an F-16 jet at Ellington Airport on Wednesday morning.
The Air National Guard pilot was apparently taking off when his or her fighter jet caught fire.
HFD was dispatched to the scene, and the pilot was transported to the hospital in unknown condition.
The airport was quickly evacuated. Kids on an apparent field trip were among those who had to be relocated.

Witness Theresa Hodges tells us she was walking in a neighborhood near the airport when she heard the jet flying overhead. She then saw smoke a short time later.

According to the Houston Airport System, Ellington Airport - previously known as Ellington Field - supports various operations of the U.S. military along with NASA and some private aviation tenants.

89-2028/OK came to rest in the grass, no more gear and pilot ejected. Have to wait and see if this frame can be rebuild or if its a goner.
