Military training jet disappears in Ayeyarwady Region

A militrary training jet disappeared Tuesday while on a training flight, the Ministry of Information has announced.
“We are still urgently looking
for the missing jet but we have no additional information yet,’’
said U Maung Maung Myint, assistant secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The jet may have suffered some malfunction or encountered bad weather, he said.
The missing aircraft was among three training jets
that took off from Pathein Airport in Ayeyarwady Region on training flights.
The planes were flying along the Pathein-Hinthada-Gwa-Pathein route
when the aircraft piloted by Major Kaung Htike suddenly disappeared.
Contact with the jet was lost about 36 miles from Pathein at 9:18am.
Troops began conducting a search mission soon after the jet disappeared, the government said.
