Rothenburg an der Oder 08Feb1992

Post by Buccaneer S.2B »

Good morning,

In February 1992 I paid a visit to former NVA airfield Rotenburg an der Oder.
At the North-side of the airfield a massive storage area was present with 41 (at least, that's what I counted) MiG-21's.
Of these MiG-21 I only a handfull were positively identified by me.
Furthermore at the centre of the airfield a long row with 22 L-39's was present, of which none was read.
Maybe anyone happend to be in the area around the same time, and can provide a log of what was seen?
Thanks in advance,

wkr.,
Remco

Dit is mijn lijst van 7 mei 1993. Iets meer MiG-21s (85), geen L-39s en ik kan me niet meer herinneren of we die toen uberhaupt gezien hebben.

I did not see any L-39 in April 1993 at Rothenburg, only a lot of MiG-21s in full covers.
I logged some L-39s at the airfield in 1991, but I do not known if these are among same 22 you saw in 1992.
For the benefit of Mr. Kite, there will be a show tonight on trampoline

In 6.92 the storage lines held 86 MiG-21s and 51 L-39s. Elsewhere were another 12 scrapped MiG-21s, 3 L-29s, a MiG-15, a MiG-17 and the fuselage of the VEB-152 airliner prototype. A hangar held Zlin Z-43 25/D-EKMO.
