...not all that much on the officialThe Alpha-Jet Farewell
13.01.2018 às 04h08
As of this Saturday, the flight of the Portuguese Air Force in Alpha-Jet has come to an end.
It was in 1993 that Portugal received a total of 50 of these aircraft, from Germany, as part of the contract to use the Beja base.
Of the initial fleet, only 40 aircraft were set to fly,
the remaining 10 to provide spare parts.
The Alpha-Jet came to replace the Fiat G-91, the T-33 and the T-38.
It was until today the aircraft chosen for the formation of young pilots who one day later would arrive at the cockpit of the F-16,
the airplane that stands out in the national airspace defense.
For the story, the Alpha-Jet leaves a legacy not only in close air support missions
but above all in advanced piloting and operational conversion missions for combat aircraft,
as well as aerial demonstrations with Parelha's acrobatic patrols Cross of =censored= and Wings of Portugal.
The government is now studying how to replace the precious instruction that the aircraft provides,
and the most certain, instead of buying new aircraft,
is to conduct courses for military pilots abroad,
the acquisition of flight hours and participation in training schools advanced military.
SIC takes it this Saturday, in Jornal da Noite, to Beja, to the Air Base nº11, where is the school of fighters, where the Alpha-Jet fires with saudade.
And during the week will be published on the sites of Expresso and SIC Notícias a 360º video.
