On July 12, 2016, the Flotilla 17F of the Embedded Hunt
has officially withdrawn its latest Modernized Super-Entendard
at a ceremony held at Naval Air Station Landivisiau.
Since then, the pilots and sailors of this Flotilla have trained and trained to evolve and operate on Rafale Marine
in order to be able to move to "Tout Rafale",
as was the case during the last Arromanches 3 mission (November 2015 -March 2016).
It is against this backdrop of ramping up and preparing crews for the entire spectrum
of possible missions on Rafale Marine that
the Flotilla 17F fired on 21 March 2018, its first AM39 EXOCET air-to-sea missile.
To this mission, two maritime patrol aircraft Atlantic II were associated,
as well as the VN Partisan,
specialized ship of support, assistance and depollution of the Navy.
The EXOCET missile fire was fired off the west side of the Atlantic Ocean against exercise targets specially set up for the occasion.
Before firing, the various areas of the exercise, including the missile trajectory and the location of the targets,
were secured to avoid unfortunate encounters with a ship,
or with an aircraft to a lesser extent .
The Navy claims that the sailors "conducted this campaign conclusively".
As a reminder , the Onboard Hunting Floats are currently in the United States
to train from the Oceana NAS and at sea, with the aircraft carrier George HW Bush (CVN-77).
This deployment, whose negotiations began two years ago,
will be divided into two major phases.
The first on the ground, from April 5 to May 8,
with the support of Carrier Air Wing 8 and the realization, among others,
ASSP (Simulated landing on track) day and night.
By following, from 08 to 18 May,
the French sailors will land on the aircraft carrier George HW Bush (CVN-77) and stay there for a fortnight.
Throughout these weeks of training,
the Navy has planned to conduct "430 flights on Rafale Marine and 40 flights on E-2C Hawkeye"
during "more than 180 exercises",
in cooperation with the US Navy.
These missions will aim to maintain the skills of flight crews and flight crew,
but also to deepen interoperability with the US Navy.
