Read on the website of the Ministry of the Armed this article about a plane crash in Gao ,
with an An-12 whose front gear collapsed.

The aircraft registered UR-KDM would belong to Cavok Air , a Ukrainian company that has 7 An-12.
The aircraft was flying on behalf of the Armed Forces, which provides supply missions to French and UN forces:

"On the 30th of March 2018 , an Antonov an-12 aircraft found itself injured during its landing on the Gao runway,
a situation quickly controlled in terms of safety thanks to an almost immediate intervention of the firefighters,
preventing any risk of fire,
while the doctors and nurses took care of the crew of which no member was hurt ", explains the article.

It was published with this photo signed Arnaud Karaghezian, an adjutant of Sirpa Images:

The rest of the article:

"But another problem remained,
the presence on the track of this aircraft of several tens of tons making impossible the landing of the planes of the operation Barkhane,
and imposing to divert them to other grounds.

It was a real race against the clock that took place in Gao a few hours later,
and in the face of this unusual situation,
for which no "reflex sheet" exists,
it was then necessary to reflect very quickly on the situation and the means available,
bringing together all the available specialists.

To lighten the plane, its 13 tonnes of cargo were unloaded.

Then two vehicles Valmet load carriers,
positioned on each side of the nose of the aircraft,
have first raised the slings placed under the cockpit.

A trailer of tank-carrier
was thus able to be placed under the nose of the plane,
by making it rest on a bed of tires to avoid Any further damage.

Once strapped on the trailer, the Antonov could be towed off the runway,
allowing it to be repaired.
A few hours later, after an inspection of the air traffic controllers,
it was again declared operational. "

Accident: Cavok AN12 at Gao on Mar 30th 2018, nose gear collapse on landing

A Cavok Air Antonov AN-12BK,
registration UR-KDM
performing a freight flight from Bamako to Gao (Mali) with 7 crew,
had landed on Gao's runway and was in the roll out when the nose gear folded.

The aircraft continued on its nose for about 70 meters before coming to a stop within the runway.

There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained substantial damage to nose gear and the front section of the fuselage.

Due to the fact that the occurrence happened on a military base,
the investigation is conducted by the Air Force Mali
and the military bureau of France.

Ukraine's NBAAI is assisting the investigation.
