Good evening,
After weeks of sorting stuff out, I can finally post my log of 12 days US here. Main targets for me were the WTI at Yuma, big exercise at Nellis (what turned out to be a night exercise
), visit at Fallon and a first time visit to Rainbow Canyon.
What an amazing trip it was: 700+ active planes, 5000+ km and 5000+ photos (for me quite a lot). Here is a log sort by date with some remarks.
15th April, Nellis
As I arrived Las Vegas on this sunday (05-5152/HH C-17 at McCarren), I decided to shortly look at what was present at Nellis. Would visit Nellis later during my trip, so just to know what was there. Lot of visiting a/c for Neptune Falcon 2018. This anual biggest Force exercise was a night one this year. But 12+ FT A-10s, 5 Growlers, 12 AK F-22s and 8 HL F-35s were there, plus quite some electronic a/c (RC-135, E-8s, E-3s, C-130s and Ospreys).

The Osprey arrived when I was there around 17.00.
16th/18th/19th/20th April Yuma
The next day had an early start. As the WTI was in full swing. The QTI has a number of classes. Every class has a (de)briefing day, a flying day, and then again a (de)briefing day, before another flying day. There are a number of small and number of big classes, and throughout the exercise classes join together in their exercise. Like on the 18th, 3 classes had a joint operation afternoon, where as the fast wing also had hot-pit refuelling. This resulted in not les then 140+ sorties that afternoon (from 13.00 till 22.00).
I tried to make a WTI overview and a visitor per day overview.

Complete madness to make an overview of these. This because all the small helicopters are flying from mid-field and are hard to read. Besides, hornets and CH-53s change with ones that are at El Centro during the WTI. Besides, flying can be very quiet if all classes have class room days, or get freaky if they fly a lot. On the Friday the evac exercise was held in the park. In the evening around 20.00 local, 40+ fighters took off.....

As you can see, quite a variaty in visiting a/c. Most of them however, played a roll (just for 1 mission) in the WTI. There were 5 hunters, but I missed 2. The Friday before, there were some Kfirs.

And another big wow! Nice day here with a big part of the CAW present. All serials take from pictures (or from friends that were there with me).

My last few hours I spend at Nellis. But after the 120+ sorties on Tuesday, this morning it was all dead. 2 F-22s flew (one read) and 1 MD A-10 departed back home.
That's it! Long topic, but if you have any questions or additions, feel free to drop me a line....
