RAF Marham Family Day 2018

Post by BirdieBarty »

Hi,
So after a sabbatical of a couple months I decided to pick up my cameragear again and do some roadtrips.
I've contacted my RAF friends in the UK and driven from The Netherlands to the UK.
I will be spending here for a couple of weeks with old friends. Lucky me they are all in the airforce most of them. So I shouldn't be worried about having the front seat everywhere.

After couple days at Lakenheath & Mildenhall I was invited to join the family day at RAF Marham.
RAF Marham is now very populair because of it's 4 F35's on base. And very soon there will be a 2nd batch of fresh F35's.

I was lucky enough to speak to one of the F35 pilots at RAF Marham and got even an private tour around the base & maintenance hangars. And yes, I saw all F35's!! Even took a view of the great cockpits!! :respect: (unfortubately due to security reasons I am not able to share them with you)

So the base is currently going on a refurbishing project. It's called PROJECT ANVIL LIGHTNING II Infrastructure.
In the next months there is for about 400-450 million pounds to be built of infrastructure. New bunkers, new taxiways, even new runways!! There will be 8 development sites at RAF Marham.
RAF Marham (also formerly RFC) 1916 - 1919 / 1935 - Present.

Marham opened as a night landing ground covering 80 acres within the boundary of the current airfield. Used predominantly by home defence unites in the early years byt since the late 1930s it has been home to bomber & reconnaissance units primarily with air-to-air refuelling also an important aspect - headlining in the falklands conflict of 1982.

RAF Marham is currently home to the Panavia Tornado GR.MK.4s and as of the summer 2018 the Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning.

It was a fantastic day with a variety of jetnoise and rotorblades. To give you a small impression.

Nice shots Bart (a little bit soft) but in my opinion a bit ruïned by the position of your watermark. Very distrurbing!

EDIT: Sorry was too harsh in my comment... :respect:
Great visit there Bart. You should ease on your postprocessing a bit more to get the most out of it.

You earn my respect, just for enduring the heat out there - the paramedics had their work cut out for them that day. :respect: Great set of images 8)
