Probably a long shot, but well worth asking:
When I landed at DOH around 11.30pm, I am since convinced that I saw a DC-8 parked at the freight ramp in what looked like ATI colours. Did my eyes deceive me or might this have been TT-DFJ, which seems to be flying around in such colours?
BTW, Doha is pretty boring to spend the night at in terms of variety:
- after I arrived, I noticed it's busy until ca 03:00 and again from ca 06:00-08:00 (when I left).
- 90% of the movements is Qatar Airways. The remaining 10% consist of Indian, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Turkish and nearby Oil-state airlines.
- the windows are a pain to look through at night.
- I did not notice a viewing area airside (didn't look for it too, as I was with a three year old).
- views are so-so at the end of the various piers.
- at either gates D or E you can see a lot of traffic passing by, making their way to the eastern or western gates. With both runways in use at either side of the terminal, FR24 is your friend whether or not to stay at either gates D or E.
- once parked at the gate, most Qatar Airways regs are obstructed from view, because of their location next to the aft door.
