in order to extend its lifespan for 20 years.
He informed that, therefore, "we are going to carry out, with respect to all our aircraft, which are the F-16 ,

that the older MLU aircraft will receive in their avionics,
our environment has been reporting on the offers
that have been made by different companies
in order to increase the capabilities of multi-purpose hunting. .
This is how the Israeli Elbit Systems presented to the FACh,
at the beginning of this year ,
a series of products and services related to the maintenance and updating of the F-16 weapon system.
Within the analyzed topics,
the logistical support, the repair of electronic elements,
the modification of the HUD and
the support of the Integrated Guided Aiming System in the Helmet (Jhmcs) were reviewed .
In addition, the support of the APG-66 (V2) and APG-68 (V9) radars was discussed,
as well as the offer of an integral tactical simulator of the Fighting Falcon .
On April 5 representatives of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI)
also met with the head of the Engineering and Support Systems Division of the FACh,
General Joaquín Urzúa ,
with the purpose of presenting the company's capabilities in relation to the support for this type of multirole hunting.
Then, on September 11,
executives from the US company Viasat presented to the FACh the options for the modernization of the Link 16 tactical data link system used by the institution's Fighting Falcon .
In this way they met with the head of the Division of Engineering and Support
to the Weapons Systems of the FACh, Commodore Joaquín Urzúa ,
with whom they reviewed approximate values of the different alternatives and
what have been the decisions of other countries
regarding the selection of alternatives for the upgrade of the Link 16 capacity.
The next day, the executives met with the head of the Development and Projects Division ,
general of aerial brigade Orlando Franchi ,
to explain about the maintenance and development of the system, its adaptation in different platforms, as well as the presentation of the product portfolio associated with command and control.
In November 2017,
Jane's informed that the FACh was studying options to modernize
its total fleet of 46 F-16 aircraft (Block 50 and MLU)
in order to keep them updated by 2030,
and that this program would be a priority, according to military sources. .
The program would be launched between this year and 2021,
and aims to incorporate the new Electronic Exploration Active Radar (AESA) into the fighters.
It would also include a new mission planning and management system,
a new electronic countermeasure system (ECM) ,
electronic support measures (ESM) , and cabin improvements.
According to military sources, the studies would also consider increasing the number of Block 50 aircraft,
adding to the current fleet of ten units, from an additional six to eight.
And it would also be defined how many of the 36 MLU aircraft could be updated.
