Hyakuri - March 02 to March 10, 2019.

Post by alans895 »

Hello,

I am planning my first trip to Japan, which I will book for March 02 to March 10, 2019.

My aim is to spend the entire time photographing F-4's at Hyakuri.

Can anybody please advise of accommodation that is close to Hyakuri? I plan on hiring a car so that I can move around the base so that the subject isn't backlit.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Alan

Hi Alan
Since you have a car to move around I figure Mito is your best bet. They offer hotels that fit any budget and have a good choice in restaurants as well. Mito is a good 20 minutes drive and even some different routes in and out of the Hyakuri area.

There might be some smaller local hotels in the area but they are definitely not on the well-known hotel booking sites. Some of those hotels cater mostly for couples looking for some private time, I guess not you best bet for a week.

Enjoy planning ahead and your time there. Please have a look at the Japan Airshow advisory maintained by Uni which has excellent information. Since the Japanese fiscal year ends in March flight activity might slow down in March. Please note 302 squadron F4 activity should have finished by now (happy to be at the airshow on Sunday) but their aircraft should remain at Hyakuri anyway.

Best regards

Toyoko Inn chain of hotels is usually a safe bet. It is possible to book online in advance.

Toyoko Inn in Tsuchiura is not too far from Hyakuri. Close to a railway station, where there are some decent places to eat as well.

There are some small hotels near Hyakuri, but indeed small and smell, no English supports.
So I do not recommend them to you , the foreigers.

Toyoko-inn at Tsuchiura, or some hotels at Mito city maybe nice, I think.
Price will be (around) 5,000-7,500JPY/night.

Thank you Uni. I have now booked the following Motel :

Hotel Sealuck Pal Mito
310-0852 Ibaraki, Mito, Kasahara-cho Nakagumi 600-60 , Japan

Now all I need are some F-4 movements between 04 & 08 March.

Quite "standard class" hotel, I think.
Please enjoy your trip in Japan.
I'll go to Melbourne at that time.
