Can anyone confirm that ADS-B is showing the altitude as per altimeter setting, i.e. local QNH below transition level and QNE (1013.25) above TL?flying-cook wrote:Hi all,
Some nice transport this day
Please note that all the information is from ADS-B

ADS-B is barometric altitude yes.Bennie wrote: Can anyone confirm that ADS-B is showing the altitude as per altimeter setting, i.e. local QNH below transition level and QNE (1013.25) above TL?
Technically one doesn't fly a flightlevel below Transition Altitude. So a transponder (ADS-B) showing FL015 over Ramstein (where TA is 5000ft) is actually around 700ft above ground level, unless USAF prefers to set the altimeters on their F-16s to QFE rather than QNH (if so, the aircraft is actually 1,500ft AGL (directly over Ramstein AB)).Martijn. wrote:Its transponder information so always FL.
Thats true, but like I said, the transponder only gives the altitude in relation to 1013,25.Bennie wrote:Technically one doesn't fly a flightlevel below Transition Altitude.
That's not true; below Transition Altitude an altimeter is set to QNH or QFE.Martijn. wrote:Thats true, but like I said, the transponder only gives the altitude in relation to 1013,25.Bennie wrote:Technically one doesn't fly a flightlevel below Transition Altitude.
