Polish police are buying three American patrol-observation helicopters Bell-407GXi. The agreement was signed by the Chief Commander of the Police Jarosław Szymczyk.
The new machines are to replace the outdated Russian Mi-2s. The police said that the transaction would be a part of re-organising the police aviation.
The first helicopter is supposed to be available for use by the police forces by the end of this year, and two more - by the end of March 2020.
The GXi version is the latest modification of the Bell-407 helicopter that hit the mass production last year. The ordered machines have in-built modifications adapting them to the tasks carried out by all police services.
In 2018, the police received three American Black Hawk helicopters manufactured by Sikorsky. They are to be used primarily for counter-terrorism tasks, but also for search and rescue missions, as well as conduct monitoring from the air.
