Can you guys please stop suggesting that Frisian Flag cannot go ahead without the Swiss Hornets? It is absolute nonsense to think that the entire exercise would have to be cancelled if less than 10% of the participating aircraft go home.
The fact that the Swiss had to leave early (for very legitimate reasons) was known well in advance by the FF organisers, and they acknowledged that it would not be a serious problem. There will be no replacing aircraft, so rumours about Rafales coming to Leeuwarden are also false.
Just be glad that the Hornets flew in 75% of the FF missions anyway. They will not be able to participate in any other major international exercise this year, so seeing them fly in FF was a bonus already. They will not be taking part in the NATO Tiger Meet at Mont-de-Marsan either.
The Swiss are very enthusiastic about their participation in the exercise, so we might see them return to Frisian Flag somewhere in the future.
