historic aircraft at Hoogeveen damaged by storm

Post by frank kramer »

The storm front that crossed the Netherlands yesterday (4 June) flattened a Romney-hangar at Hoogeveen Airfield (EHHO). Several historic aircraft were (severely) damaged; an Aeronca is believed to be a write-off, the Stinson L-5 that was due to fly to the L-Birds meet in Normandy has a damaged prop, huge dents in the metalwork, and gashes in the wings and fuselage. In other words, it's unflyable and will not be able to make it to France..

--------------
Above link is to the website of RTV Drenthe and is about a crowdfunding action to repair the Stinson L-5 Sentinel, after the Insurance companies refuse to pay up.

Apparently, Aeronca PH-FUN indeed is a write-off
