ALAT use 3 letter codes ABx
AdlA use 2 letter codes Xx
CEV DGA use 2 letter codes Bx (rare)
Codes all part of the F-xxxx c/s
You talking about codes , i was talking about the registration......
Codes are connected to the call sign and do give away the operator. And now days are fixed to (all) the aircraft, as Frank explained.
So serial (or registration), code and fixed callsign can give away aircrafttype and operator. And one or more of these can be visible on a French military aircraft. The tactical call sign can give away the operator but it won't be visible on a aircraft.
In this case fixed callsign and tactical callsign would give it away as an AdlA aircraft. There is no hint it would be ALAT.
From the past:
Belgium Air Force used to have OT-xxx on the aircraft next to a standard well known serials.
And probably there are more examples.
And yes I write down what is (visible) on the aircraft to identify it, also a civil looking call sign. No Problem
