A Syrian military source explains the reasons
for shooting down a helicopter for the Syrian army in Aleppo countryside
Last update: 14.02.2020 | 13:30 GMT
A Syrian military source said that one of the Syrian army's hovercraft
was hit by a hostile missile in the western countryside of Aleppo,
and this resulted in "the fall of the helicopter and the death of its crew."
"At around 13:40 on Friday,
one of our military hovercraft was hit by a hostile missile
in the western countryside of Aleppo, near Greater Urm,
where armed terrorist organizations backed by Turkey are deployed,
and this led to the fall of the helicopter and the death of its crew,"
the source said.
The statements of the Syrian military source
come as a resolution to the conflicting information about the party that shot down the helicopter,
as activists circulated videos on the targeted helicopter,
accompanied by comments indicating the killing of its crew
and alleging that it targeted a shoulder-fired missile
from the elements of a Turkish observation post
stationed near the town of Dara Azza.
On February 11,
Syrian-backed Syrian rebels shot down a Syrian army helicopter in Idlib,
northwest of the country.
