Dornier Seawings flew its new-generation Seastar amphibian for the first time on 28 March 2020
from its base in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany.

The twin-engined turboprop (seral number 1003) made a 31min sortie,
with chief test-pilot Wolfram Cornelius noting “its nice handling qualities”.
The Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-135A-powered CD2 was launched in February 2016,
around 25 years after Dornier shut down the original programme because of financial problems.
Despite securing US and European certification for the Seastar in 1991,
no examples were delivered.
