What’s flying there Germany

Post by GerritsFinest »

22-4-20 outbound from Ramstein CNV6418 near Hamburg heading north. Can some explain to me that on ADSB its showing 91-9142 C130H and on Plane Finder (kind of FR24) as C26D 900528..?!

Mismatch of hexcode in either database. You'll probably see the same hexcode on both (pf shows it as ADSHEX, adsbexchange shows it immediately below the flight number as 'ICAO / hex id').

CNV sounds like navy, so in this case I would guess ADSB is incorrect, and PF is correct.

Always remember that the aircraft itself is not transmitting its serial, just a hex code. The system that you are using (ADSB, Planefinder, etc etc) looks up that hex code in its internal database, and then displays that serial to the user.
A bit like the Scramble database saying that aircraft registration G-ABCD is c/n xx22, but rzjets saying it is c/n yy33

Adding to Andy's post: the aircraft is not transmitting a hex code, but a feature (called ADS-B extended squitter) in the ATC transponder is.
A transponder is a 'box' in the cockpit that can be fairly easily replaced/installed. Put a transponder in a different 'tailnumber' and tailnumber and hexadecimal (ADS) code will no longer match.

Just east of Aachen/EDKA: Zeppelin D-LZNT (presumed operating out of EDKB), track 'indicates' might have started around Jülich
Someone confirm the likeliness of that?

Today (09JUN) around 15.10lt a french NH90 overflew my house (60km NE of EDDF), at estimated 1000-1500ft, from north to south. It was picked up on ADS-B just east of EDDF with code 3AAAC1.
Any ideas regarding its ID?
Where did it come from? My guess Fritzlar.

Thanks in advance.

Gerard, 3AAAC1, callsign FMY8116 should be 1404/EBH.
All from SBS /ADSB, so not visual.
