QRA Scramble 349 sqn & A2A intercept (FR, GB, DK, Fin, PL)

Post by Redskin301 »

This is a post of the video I made while visiting the Baltic Air Policing with the Belgian Air Force in
Siauliai Air Base in Lithuania. During the flight from Brussels to Lithuania, we were intercepted by
several fighters. In total, we were intercepted by French Rafales, British Typhoons, Danish F-16s,
Finnish Hornets and Polish F-16s. The Poles flew from Amari Air Base in Estonia and were therefore
also part of the Baltic Air Policing. During the visit to Siauliai, we were guests of the Belgian 349
Squadron from Kleine-Brogel Air Base. After a brief introduction to the F-16, we were shown a live
training scramble. This was a so-called sierra scramble where the F-16s would only taxi out. Please
note that from the moment the pilot are rushing to the F-16s, no fragments have been cut out, so
this is a realistic timeline shown here.
The Belgians and also the other NATO partners are really that
fast during a scramble. After the scramble we flew back to Brussels with the Belgian Airbus A321.
Special thanks on this visit for the NATO Allied Air Command and the 349 Squadron for arranging
this visit and giving an excellent explanation of the QRA procedures.
