On saturday 28/11/20 a An-124 is expected at Obi with an interesting freight on board in the shape of two Thai Navy Do228. Due to the size of the aircraft the freight will be unloaded on the 04 runway end which would mean very good viewing possibilities for People standing on the other side of the fence...😏

Finally after several cancellations and delays An-124 UR-82029 of Antonov Airlines arrived in the very early morning of 24/12/2020 at 5:06AM.
It was unloaded soon after in the darkness but due to the short distance at this airport and outstanding viewing possibilities it was no problem to identify the two RThNavy/101sqd Do228-212 on board:
1112 and 1114

They will be upgraded to NG standard for some more years of service with the Thai Navy.
The other active 228 should also be delivered for upgrade.

That was my personal Christmas present!

There are (or were) 7 RTN Do-228s active. All but 1109 and 1114 were recorded as being active earlier this year. In addition to the work being performed by RUAG, a contract was signed in 2018 for a comprehensive avionics update for all 7 aircraft. So the appearance of more than another one here seems to be likely.
