Hi all,
The ELINT version of Kawasaki C-2(18-1202)is now officially called as "RC-2".
The name "RC-2" appears on the official papers of the " Defence Programs and Budet of Japan for FY2021) p.12 (I mean page 16/63.) ", published on 30 Sep., 2020.

Hi,
The official name of the ELINT version of Kawasaki C-2(18-1202)was "Jiki-denpa-jyoho- shyushyu-ki(or Shuushuu-ki)” until the end of September, 2020.
It means:
Jiki: next term / or next age /or next era / or next generation
denpa: electric wave
jyoho: information
shyushyu(or shuushuu or shushu ): collect or gather
ki: a solid of machine. This time it means aircraft body.
So it is "Next generation ELINT plane".
And the "RC-2" was only her nick name until the end of September 2020, used by (mainly) aviation enthusiasts.
But the Minister of Defence approved "Finish of development of Jiki-denpa-jyoho- shyushyu-ki(or Shuushuu-ki)”
and then, he also approved to use it at JASDF with the name of "RC-2".
This event happend at the end of September(I don't know the exact date, but maybe 27-29 Sep.).
And then, it became "RC-2" officially.
RC-2s will replace YS-11EBs.
JASDF will develop new "Stand-off EW aircraft("Sutando ofu denshisen ki" in Japanese)" from FY2021 and it will replace EC-1 and YS-11EAs.
