The "black" C130/ L100's

Post by AK01 »

After the Black C32B topic i like to open the black C130/ L100 topic to see if there is any possibility to solve that mystery.
The following serial numbers are known to me, but others may exist ;

-41901 First noted jan-2008 Bullhead/AZ claimed to be 5032, but doubtful. Noted Greenville-Donaldson/SC : jun-2013, sep-13, may-14, jun-18, nov-19. Colors White upper, grey lower, black nose.
-81852 First and last noted Mar-13 at Mazzr i Shariff, picture in Scramble magazine, nothing online found.
-27269 First and last noted feb-16 at Bagram. Picture (https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8780615) claims it to be N3867X, which is very well possible.

For the 41901 5032 seems doubtful as 41901 has been photographed many times at Donaldson, and always with a black nose. 5032/N3755P has been seen with white nose, and active throughout those years with Prescott titles (i know they an be removed).
The 81852 and 26269 are all white (or very light grey), so are the N2679C(4796), N2731G(4582), N3796B(5027) and the N3867X(4684), so good candidates.

For the 41901 i have three options, N82178(5048), N8213G(5055) and N8218J(5056), 5057 is also mentioned on some forum, but this has never been built?
All three have been flying for Prescott or similar companies during the 90s/ beginning 00's, and vanished afterwards, they have all been mentioned as CIA prisoner flights, so did the registrations become to sensitive?
Last picture i can find of N82178 is from Apr-01, from N8213G jan-05 and from N8218J i have not been able to find anything yet. N8213G was cancelled from the FAA register 09-dec-20, N8218J was cancelled 02-may-20, and N82178 was cancelled 15-jan-21.
So three airframes that haven't been seen for 15 years, and now cancelled? At least one can be the 41901, but were have the other two been for all those years, inside a hangar at Donaldson??

Below my ADSB/ SBS etc notes ;

Serial Hex l/n
N2679C A29C94 ADSB 11-dec-20 Crestview to LPLA to LMML to MEA

N2731G A2B423 ADSB aug-20 Crestview to MEA, ADSB 06-jan-21 Jordan/ Iraq

N3755P A44973 ADSB 13-nov-20 Myrtle > Crestview, 18-jul-20 CEW> Baton Rouge> KDEN. 21-jul-20 KDEN>KPHX. 22-jul-20 KPHX> CEW> ?. 21-aug-20 CEW> MB. 22-aug-20 MB> San Jose/CA. 23-aug-20 San Jose > Hawaii. 1-sep-20 San Jose> MB.3-sep-20 MB> CEW> ?. 28-oct-20 CEW> ORL> MB. 1-nov-20 MB> Wilmington. 02-nov-20 Wil> FF> AZ> KAUS.

N3796B A45866 ADSB 29-dec-20 Crestview local flight, was beginning dec-20 in Jordan using c/s State33

N3867X A474F7 ADSB 16-jun-20 Tblisi > SNN >YYT > Crestview. ADSB 13-jul-20 lcl Crestview. Nn afterwards

N8213G AB375A ADSB not noted, Flightaware 27-jan-05 IAD> Crestview

N8218J AB380B Flightaware 30-oct-20 Little Rock > Stuttgart/ AR, most likely miscoded box for other plane? ADSB never noted

N82178 AB3800 Flightaware 02-mar-04 Richmond > Crestview

I am looking for any good additions, so has anyone seen other L100's with a strange 5 digit serial like the 81852/27269. Any extra sightings of the last three airframes after 2005 will be great, and a tie-up for anything would be fantastic.

Isn't N409LC still operating for Lynden Air Cargo? Not really that secretive in that case I guess.
Cheers,

Thank you all for the input so far!
Arjen, if you don't mind i indeed want to leave the Lynden's out of this. I agree they do government work, but there seem to be no evidence that they use military serials.

W&R, interesting to hear you saw the 41901 all white, could you share a picture of it. So far i only have it with grey surface, and blue cheatline like this : https://www.flickriver.com/photos/plane ... 907292274/

I photographed 41901 at Donaldson AC in May 2007 in exactly the same scheme as in the flickr reference above. Same spot too, BTW.
