US Navy transfers F-135 power module to carrier

The short version of the story for those that don't want to click the link-- the Navy loaded a F135 power module on the USNS Byrd while it was pierside, sailed out to sea and then used a Super Puma and a CH-53 to transfer the module to the USS Carl Vinson.

One thing I learned is that the Byrd has sailed with a Super Puma detachment in the past, I had no idea they did that, figured they would use Navy helicopters.

I saw the Super Puma on ADSB-x and was out at the beach while it was flying, but for whatever reason the Super Puma always does a surf arrival over the Navy beach and between being backlit in the afternoon and the distance it doesn't make for decent pix. The Marines were more accommodating and flew the CH-53E alongside Dog Beach more than once.
