Hi all,
It has been some time since I was able to post a log, but finally here is one. A small one, ok, but still a log….
The arrival of two “new” warbirds in The Netherlands was reason enough to contact the owners and make a visit to Hoogeveen. I expected one or maybe two new ones for the book, but in the end I made no less than five. Not bad for a Saturday afternoon in The Netherlands during Covid times!
ATN Hangar
PH-MSV Casa 1.131E (ex E.3B-508)
D-ECCI Sk.15C (Kl.35) (ex SweAF 5069)
(51245)/45 Fpl.51B (Pa.18) SE-GCK, no mks
45-5060/15-C L-4J N1227N, c/n 13800, unknown mks
(41-1581) BT-13A std (N68144), fuselage
Cub 5060 is bought by a Dutchman who is going to base her at Breda-Seppe airport. As soon as she is ready to fly, she will move there. I have a list with many unit codes of L-4s, but 15- is not in it. Anybody knows which unit this was?
The Swedish Super Cub is actually based at Rastede in Germany, and is here for maintenance only.
Barnstormers hangar
45-4809 L-4J N3989B, 12 Training Command mks, c/n 13549
(42-99252) L-5 std (D-ELKO cnx), 101 AB mks
(41-9771) BT-13A std (N56330), fuselage
Cub 4809 is the other new one here. For now she is part of the vintage fleet of Van Egmond, but for a good price she is for sale. The L-5 arrived in 2019, probably after spending a few decades in a barn somewhere (the German registration was cancelled in the 70s!). This will become a restoration project for the young members of the Barnstormers association.
Regarding the Vultee, EMOOS gives this as the former serial while Eurodemobbed gives 41-9844. If the serial range is in c/n order (which is a big IF), that last one seems to make more sense. On the web I can’t find anything on it, who knows more?
“De Havilland” hangar
‘T-9354’ DH.82A (N935NL, ex FAF NL935)
Also confirmed as present, but in a locked hangar unfortunately (as I still need it) is flyable L-5 42-98248 (N57797). One for another day. Furthermore the replica Fokker D.XXI is progressing well, they hope to do the first flight coming summer.
As said a good afternoon away from home
As always, comments, additions and corrections are very welcome.
That’s all folks!
