Please enjoy this WWII Spitfire Hawker Hurricane flyby and reenactment at the Duxford summer air show, sure to please World War 2 Spitfire airshow enthusiasts. It is widely considered that the Spitfire was the superior aircraft compared to the Hurricane. Most experts agree that the Hurricane was overmatched by 109s, and as a result, the RAF made a conscious effort to avoid sending them out against fighters, and were used instead mostly against bomber formations. The pilots of the Spitfire usually got the more challenging assignment of taking on the fighter escorts, and this is why they had a lower kill ratio. Both the Spitfire and Bf 109E were similar in speed and agility, and both were notably faster than the Hurricane. The Hurricane had a higher seating position, giving the pilots a much better view over the nose than the pilots of the Spitfire had. The Hurricane was an older fighter built by Hawker, but the Spitfire built by later on by Supermarine. During the Battle of Britain, it was obvious that the Spitfire was much faster, but the Hurricane seemed to be significantly more rugged.
