As you could read for yourself I stated "probably" and in combination with GAF callsign which are more used by C160's and other GAF planes than by fighter jets. Maybe Tornado's uses GAF callsigns when crossing, it's very difficult to finger out airplane type via callsign and altitude. But speed is indeed a good indication which one it probably is, a fighter jet or the much slower C160. Problem although is that they don't broadcast there speed via mode-s if am not wrong...

Callsign GAF E xx is in use when the Büchel Tornado's flying outside Germany.
For those wo are interested, below a list of German Navy callsigns:

GERMNAVY 45xx = P-3C Orion MFG-3 Nordholz
GERMNAVY 46xx = Lynx Mk-88 MFG-5 Nordholz
GERMNAVY 47xx = DO-228 MGF-3 Nordholz
GERMNAVY 48xx = Seaking MK-41 MFG-5 Nordholz

As far as I am aware, bit could have changed in meanwhile:

GAF E: Buchel Tornado
GAF I: Schleswig Tornado
GAF K: Norvenich EF2000
GAF L: Lechfeld Tornado
GAF M: Neuburg EF2000
GAF N: Laage? EF2000?? (believe this one was a temporary)
GAF R: was Wittmund F-4
GAF S: Laage EF2000

From memory, I have not heard C-160's with callsigns other than a 3 digit number behind GAF.

How can you recognize a GAF C130/C160 via SBS with no known registration? Via callsign GAF*** and flying steady around 20000 ft, loaded service ceiling is 23000 ft. GHOST i thought is e.g. a known callsign for a GAF C160.

I now try to collect the callsigns for C130/C160 and link the callsigns to type i.e. C160 or TOR and if possible to a registration.

To answer your questions: I don't think there is a block speacially for Merkel or something like that.
C160's are flying with what appears to be tactical mode-s codes. they change often hence they can not be tied up, same story for Tornado's. EF200's however seem to fly with their assigned Mode-s code.
GHOST is not a C-160 callsign but a Tornado from Buchel, if you see German tactical callsigns via Mode-s like GHOST they are most likely fast movers.
Easy to tell as they allways have a single digit behind their tactical (GHOST 1 etc etc)

As said earlier in this reply, GAF with 1 letter and 2 digits are fast movers and not C-160's
Regarding GAF with 3 digits, I do think it is likely they are linked with tasking or type of mission however I have not taken the time to figure out though.

i've got some additions and/or corrections:

GAFK = TaktLwG31 (Nörvenich)
GAFE = TaktLwG33 (Büchel)
GAFM = TaktLwG51 (Schleswig)
GAFN = TaktLwG74 (Neuburg)
GAFS = TaktLwG73 (Laage)
GAFW = WTD61 (Manching)

GAF + 3digits = C160, A310, A319, A340, GL5T, CH53
TA + 2digits = C160 LTG62

Regarding GAF775 and 709: those callsigns are FBS Cougar from EDDT

then what is the TWO Letter code for
GAF LW01 - 99 LTG-62 ??? ETNW
GAF TA 01 -99 LTG-61 ??? ETSA

If

What is the single letter for

GAF ?01-99...is LTG-61 ETNH
GAFW is not LTG63. GAFW like mentioned before is WTD61.

Dixie is used by the WTD-61 C-160D. Don't know if other WTD-61 are using this one also, or not

The WTD-61 F-4F also used Dixie on various flights.

The GAF Global 500 (14+01 to 14+04) jets seem mainly to use the callsign block of GAF601 to GAF689

Also it would appear that some individual callsigns in this block are used more than others; i.e. GAF602 to GAF609 and other spot individual spot numbers GAF685 etc

Are these common use numbers fixed to routes/destinations flights???????

Is it me or are the Airbus A-319's (15+01 & 15+02) mainly seem to use the 600 and 800 blocks of callsigns?????.

The Airbus A-310's (10+) and the Airbus (16+01) seem not to use the the 600 callsign block....

Is their block of "GAF" callsign reserved for flight refueling tanking German fighter aircraft??????

I believe I has answered some of your questions already in my first reply, based on Mode-s logs. These findings were based on Mode-s logs from Sept 2006 to current. I have not looked if some ranges were still in use or not, or last used.

COBO is common used by A310 for Aerial Refueling where the digits are the last 2 of his serial (COBO 27 = 10+27)
Believe they do use GAF callsign when on Ferry mission, do not recall in which series though
