Many thanks for info helped me a lot!FredL wrote: ↑20 Jul 2024, 10:46Places I know for sure :wittemuizen wrote: ↑20 Jul 2024, 08:08 Can anybody help me with this, what is the best place to stand for this defile? I have never been there.. thank you so much in advance.
- Place du Trône, in front of the ING building, is looking good. Usually not too much crowd, and no sun nor high buildings in front when making photos in the direction of the défilé.
- Esplanade du Cinquantenaire (close to Army Museum and Autoworld) is a good spot but the sun may disturb you as in recent years, the position of the flying défilé is a bit to the south of Cinquantenaire park.
- Place Poelaert gives a good sight in the direction of the arriving aircraft but expect some crowd as exhibitions and multiple activities take place between there and Place des Palais. The aircraft won't be as close as from the other places so a good lens is needed.
- avenue de Tervueren, around Montgomery square is also nice, but the sun may be partially in front. From this spot, expect the aircraft to be closer to you.
all those places are easy to reach by subway (driving and parking for cars may be difficult, at least around Poelaert and place du Trône).
Good luck !

Second QRA F-16 should have been FA-117FredL wrote: ↑21 Jul 2024, 22:23 A small "open day" for families and friends was hold in Florennes.
F-16s FA-72, 121 and 132 took off from here and took part in the Défilé, with FA-56, FA-86 and FB-15 as spares.
On static display were FA-57 (special scheme - 105 anniversary 1st squadron), FA-84 and ??
2 X QRA (FA-97 and ??) also took off together with the 3 ones bound for Brussels. I was too far to note their number.
All 5 did some formation fly-bys aftyer take-off and on return.
NH-90 FTH and the 3 A400 also did so on return.
Sorry, was based on picture shown by ADSB.

Depending on the position of the King and officials tribunes (King's palace in front or in the back), the position of the flying aircraft will differ : to the south of the Palace or to the north. It is possible to anticipate it by watching where the tribunes are installed a few days before the défilé. The 2 rehearsals of the show, about 10 dayx and about 4-5 days before the Défilé, also give accurate information about it.
