Engine maker PW confirms, and expects to resume delivering F135s by the end of Feb 2023.
“After thorough review, we can confidently say there were no quality issues with the [engine] fuel tube that fractured,” said Jen Latka, vice president of the F135 program for Pratt & Whitney. “We are dealing with a rare systems phenomenon involving harmonic resonance.
“We have developed a near-term remedy that allows the fleet to fly safely, and we expect that F135 engine deliveries could resume before the end of the month.”

LM was running engine tests on a F-35 this afternoon at the main plant. Hopefully they will be back up soon.

The final assembly of the 1,000th Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) has begun, with BAE Systems announcing the delivery of the aft fuselage section on 7 February 2023.

BAE Systems announced the milestone delivery from its Samlesbury facility in the North of England, noting that it came about 18 years after it shipped the first aft fuselage to Lockheed Martin in 2005.
In 2021 Lockheed Martin estimated that the 1,000th F-35 would be delivered in 2023.
However, the program encountered significant problems in that time,
including the discovery that Chinese alloys were being used to manufacture the aircraft.

Despite the difficulties,
the F-35 is already by far the most numerous fifth-generation fighter jet in the world.

Fewer than 200 F-22s were ever built.

The number of China’s own J-20 are also estimated at 200,
while around 10 of Russia’s Sukhoi Su-57s are currently operational.

RSiAF news 24-02-2023

After a full evaluation, MINDEF/SAF concludes that the F-35 best meets our defence needs. MINDEF will exercise the option to acquire a second tranche of F-35s - eight F-35Bs - to be added to the RSAF’s fleet to support the progressive drawdown of our ageing F-16s.
