Those with codes 04 and 05 were not taken in Syria. There's snow in the background. The ground crews are wearing winter jackets.
24 red looks more like Syria.

I can't really identify the one on the enlarged pic as the 24 red. The picture immediately below of the 24 red can't be taken at Latakia (with Google Earth imagery I can't place the picture anywhere). The close ups of the 24 red / RF-95003 are certainly not taken there (why would there be a bunch of crappy pictures and two very sharp!). This aircraft however participated in the Moscow parade earlier this year and my guess is that those pictures are taken just before the parade or a rehearsal.
Besides, this website is Ukranian so be sure to doublecheck their newsupdates.

Richard from Rotterdam wrote:Earlier in the week of course Russia and Israel have made arrangements their rules of engagement in case Israel decides to bomb inside Syria. Definitely means trigger happy crews will have to think thrice before engaging any airborne blips on radar screens. But if the Russians have brought their S-300 or better radars with, then it especially gets risky for Dutch F-16s over Syria.
As IS, Nusra Front or any other terrorist-organisation would benefit from a conflict between Russian and Coalition forces it is highly unlikely that any confrontation will occur. Remember that Syrian AF and Coalition aircraft operate in the same airspace for over a year now without any problems. It is very clear that the US is somehow tolerating Syrian AF operations as it would be no problem at all to detect and destroy any Syrian aircraft. I would not be surprised if there is any coordination on any level to avoid nasty situations.

The presence of Russian air defense assets is more than logical as it would be unthinkable that the Russians would leave their installations unprotected against any threat such as for example a defecting Syrian AF pilot and his armed aircraft (unlikely as all "unreliable" pilots were grounded when the trouble began) or a captured aircraft.

Nobody but the Russians and Iranians will admit it, but after the though Lybia lessons it is now in very few governments interest to see the Assad-regime being defeated. Think about the fates of slightly short of a million Alawite Syrians that will either be slaughtered or seek refuge in Europe if government held territory will be taken by IS or Nusra forces.

Just my opinion!

Regards, Paul
