... and in the neverending attempts to confuse things even further, a fresh post in the airshow section of this MB states that even though the entrance is on the north side, the spotters will be placed on the south side of the runway... :?

As read on the website:

"Entrance thru "la barrière de Corenne" (North of the base, NOT the main gate !), rue de Corenne (N975) 5620 Florennes.
Warning: Despite the fact the entrance is located in the North, the spotters corner will be located on the south side of the runway."

Cheers,

Hi all,

Don't get your hopes up. The text indicating that the spotters will be located on the south side of the runway was placed on the TLP-site on February 27th. So in all probability they have since decided to change the location to the north side. Oh well, we'll know for sure next Wednesday!

From another topic (http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=51097)
aviationbooks wrote:Hi everyone. Good news. I have just received an official reply from Florennes about the Spotters Day on May 20th. The spotters corner will be on the south side of the track with the sun behind you. I have a stand selling aviation books on the day.
This reply was posted today on 12:16 pm so I would say it is recent enough

Just got back, we left after the launch.
Weather was overcast with occasionally some hazy sunshine.
The launch consisted of:
4 ALCA's
2 Polish F16 (the singles)
4 Klu F16s (J-644, J-201, J-199, J-637)
2 AMI Tornadoes (50-02 and 50-07)
2 Spanish Typhoons (11-07 and 11-08)
4 Mirages (4-AL and 4-AB, 133-XH, 133-IV)
2 Super Etendards (8 and 32)
4 BAF F16s (FA86, FA 103, FA119 and the Tiger)
1 F16D (SP 91-464 red)
Left on the TLP-ramp were one Hellenic F-16, another SP F-16D (red) that had a ground abort, and the Polish dual. Allegedly the other Hellenic F16 was inside the TLP-hangar.
We saw 10 local F-16 over the day.

Another confirmation I received today about us standing on the southside
Monsieur,

So that everything is clear and that this rumor ever, the spotters are placed on the south side of the runway. The entrance is on the north side and the dining area. There will be no possibility of repayment even in bad weather (beyond our control).

Hello all,

After THE question from me I got this e-mail from Philippe Dhyne :

The spotters will be placed on the south side of the track with the sun in the back.

Very clear.

As some have stated earlier:

Thumbs up (serious!) for everybody who is making this day possible, in what kind of way!

Remember: this is an aviationevent that will take place, budgetcuts and events like Ursel Airshow proves it can be otherwise.

Just my five cents!

I totally agree! "Demanding" money back sounds ridiculous in my humble opinion. Be happy something is organised at all, since that happens less and less. And of course being on the south side is much better, they never promised anything about this in the first place.
Anyway, it seems things have changed for the better, so hopefully everybody who is going will have a good time!

For a report for Tuesday 12-5 see here:

http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=51904" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

or...

Falcon 20 G-FRAS
F-16C 4055, 4056
L-159A 6051, 6055, 6061, 6064
Hawk XX289/CO, XX329/CJ
EF.2000 C.16-27/11-07, C.16-28/11-08
F-16D (90-)0843/SP, 91-0464/SP
F-16C 112, 134
Tornado ECR (MM7052)/50-02, (MM7053)/50-07
S. Etendard 1 (17 F), 8 (11 F, grey c/s)
F-16AM J-199 (311 sq), J-201 (322 sq), J-637 (312 sq), J-644 (322 sq)
F-16AM FA86, FA103, FA119, FAxx (special tiger tail)
Mirage 2000N 616/133-XH, 683/133-IV -edit- this was read off by us as 643, but should be 683 apparently; I blame the rain....
Mirage 2000D 333/4-AB, 348/4-AL

By the time those had all left three Vipers were left on the platform: Polish F-16D 4083, USAF (92-3)918/SP and an unknown SP F-16C with red tailband. Apparently the mission got cancelled after all, since the first aircraft already started returning before we had made it to the eastern end again. Lucky for us they decided this AFTER take off!
Still satisfied despite the horrible weather we did some W&R hunting on the way back, starting with a Streak.
