Req: Kaagbaan Spottersplatz

Post by Larryloader »

Hi
Can anyone confirm if this is still open please. I understand that there is to be an extension to the existing cargo ramp and that this facility will/has closed.
Are there any alternative viewpoints of the 06/24 runway suitable for photography?

Many thanks
Larry

Thanks thermal. Is it likely to be shutting soon or is this pure speculation.

Hello everyone,

I noticed that the road to the spot next to the kaagbaan is under construction, is it still allowed to follow that road by foot. Because de Kmar told us we weren't. Can anyone answer my question?

Thanks in advance

It can also beacause of the constructions being there that you aren't allowed there. You would need the right shoes probably a helmet or a vest as it's probably marked as a construction site.
But the official spot is still reachable but you will have to go via schiphol-rijk and the martinair-cargo facilities.

Heard some (bad?) rumours this week that before the end of this month (January 2008) the Kaagbaan spot will be closed and the new spot along the 18R will be opened.

But we all know too that the "Soap"-opera about this spot hasn't ended before the entrance is really blocked and of course that nothing in aviation is sure. Just wanted to share this little gossip with you guys.

Maybe the members who life in the Haarlemmermeer get more info from local newspapers; like if the protests against the new 18R spot has been lost by the NIMBY's and this spot can be opened then (and that will mean the spot along the 06 will be closed as far as my information goes)

Lots of questions, but no problem, here some answers:

* most important, AMS is one big terminal, separated in three areas, but all reachable inside, no need to transfer by bus or something.

* you arrive with Air France on the C-gates and thats Terminal 1. Just follow the signs with Baggage Hall/Arrival Hall. You will be in Arrival 1. Between Arrival 1 and 2 you go three floors up and you will be on the Panorama Deck (open from 09:00 to 17:00). Normally this all will take about max. 15 minutes.

* as you are allready checked in for your next flight, you have your boarding pass allready and also don't have to pick up your luggage, so this saves time. When finished at the Panorama Deck, just follow the signs with Departure Area, go to Departure 2. No need to go to the check in desks, go directly to Pasport Control. Normally the KLM USA flights will leave from the E-gates, sometimes F-gates. From the Panorama Deck to the E-gates will take about max. 20 minutes. But mind that it can be busy at Pasport Control. So don't be too late. At the gate you will get a security and profile check.

So conclusion: it is possible, but you don't have that much time. Clear enough?

Ow ok, sorry, thought that I read Air France, my mistake. But there does not change much, the KL flight normally also arrives on the C-gates. Sometimes on the high D-gates numbers (D59-D87), but then you also have to follow the Baggage signs.

Volgens schiphol.nl:
