The 24th A.400M for LTG 62, 54+25, arrived at 13.20 hours on 21.12. 54+24 will follow in early January.

It seems like 54+21 will also get the tanker config in the next weeks in Wunstorf.

On 2.1.2019 it was announced by Secretary of Defence Ursula von der Leyen that Lechfeld will be the second A.400M base in Germany. Until now it is not known if only the 13 surplus (from 53) aircraft will be based here and if they will be operated by LTG 62 aswell (as a wing´s "Lufttransportgruppe"), LTG 63 or even LTG 61 or a bi-/multinational unit or a special operations unit.

In an interview von der Leyen told the press, that 10 A.400M will form the main part of an multinational unit from 2025 on. The unit will be operational from 2028.

Lechfeld will get 170 Million Euro for modernisation.
