Be patient , there are more photos to come ! :!:
Like this one. Alas, not taken by myself but obtained from the 'photosection Eindhoven airbase' (fotodienst Vlb. Eindhoven), picture taken somewhere in the sixties:

You chose the right picture there , Rob , because that is exactly what I meant : those thunderstreaks produced an ear-deafening noise while
testing their Wright J-65 engines on the threshold of the runway !
As young spotters we stood there watching only a few hundred metres away, but we enjoyed it again and again!

by now let us start the show-season with some nice action-shots of thunderstreak-demoteams , like this formation landing at Eindhoven in August 1969... :o

How about the strange colour scheme of the P-116? I don't think I ever saw a non-camouflaged F-84 in Dutch service? But this one clearly looks like bare metal or so. Nice!

No strange colour scheme at all, have seen them flying like that; RNLAF/KLu Streaks were in bare metal in the beginning, see also:

Spine,
One of the regional (14) RNLAF 'Open Days' that year I presume, like every airbase had one?

I remember the one on Eindhoven and especially the poster with the drawing of an F-104G!

My dad was an F-84F crew-chief, first with 311 and then with 312 at Volkel, from '63 to '66. When he joined 311, they still had several eighty-fours in bare metal. Soon thereafter, they were all camouflaged. Funny anecdote: then famous Dutch aviation journalist Hugo Hooftman reported that because all Streaks were camouflaged, they were no longer capable of the strike-mission!

Volkel Streaks almost always flew with an asymmetric load, the LH inner pylon empty and a 450 gallon fueltank on the RH inner pylon. Left was where the nuke was supposed to go. Mostly they flew with three tanks. In the summertime they needed four ATO-bottles to get airborne!

Will upload some pics from my dad's collection shortly.

OK, as promised, first some I shot myself in August 1988 at the Safaripark, Volkel:

And then some scans from prints from duplicates of slides ( ) by Cor de Blij:

Sorry for the quality of the scans, will try to get hold of the duplicate slides and re-scan sometime.

Hans,

I don't think it is on alert, as I think Eindhoven's tasks (CAS and conventional bombing) didn't require QRA. I think Pieter 229 has been pre-flighted already and Pieter 259 hasn't. Lovely picture by the way - shot over the fence?

During the Eightyfour-time at Volkel, Air Force people weren't even allowed to take pics during normal working days (Volkel always having tighter security due to the Strike mission).
