Hi Peter,
It has been a while since I was there (2 years or so) but normally I drive onto the Cargo-area and just follow the fence counter clockwise. The cargo platform connects to the US mil platform, although a part of it is obstructed by cloths covering the fence. You should be able to read visitors here though.
Furthermore, there is a roof terrace on the terminal, opposite the military base.

we went to the Bernhauser strasse (N48 41 13,68 E9 10 44,47)
from this small car parking jou can walk all the way up to the fence.
frome here you have a good few of the military ramps.

Hi, returning from a fam holiday in italy we passed stuttgart airport.
seen during very rainy weather were the following mil a/c
(07)-7169 C17A USAF no unit noted because of the heavy rain
378 C20. ?????
The G1159 was in all white c/s. Anyone know its operator??

Was there around 12.30 pm. Saw only 07-7169 standing left (from my position) of the C37 378.
