Northern end (mind you, rwy designation appears to have changed to 01-19) is far from ideal. Lots of trees and nowhere to park along the road. Also, choppers mostly turn to finals early, missing the road anyway.
Answers will be questioned.....

It is possible though..went there by bike and made pictures while the helicopters flew above the road. It’s challenging.

patrick dirksen wrote: 04 Nov 2022, 08:42 I understand Deelen is used as FARP, is it possible to take good pictures there while the choppers are being refuelled, for example from the Veteranenbos? Or is that too far away or is the view blocked or so?
The previous days, helicopters were parked at the southern taxitrack leading to runway 02. Trees and bushes obscure just about everything, but the choppers can be seen when they arrive, leave or do their hoisting exercise at the beginning of runway 02. Nice views there.

For this, park at the end of the Kemperbergerweg and walk the last km or so till you hit the fence, then follow it left towards the runway.

Veteranenbos is only a very distant view. Also, as fas as I know, no refuelling at Deelen. If they do, they’ll probably use the ‘new’ platform towards the north.
Taking pictures on the runway 02 (nowadays 01) treshhold is quite nice but note that it costed us 109 euro due to an overactive county law enforcement dude who first saw one of us climb over the base fence ( !?) and then gave us a penalty for leaving the path, which we did but on the edge of an empty field. So beware of this mope-eyed (had to look this one up) sore loser!

They do refuel at Deelen, the FARP is somewhere on the NE side of the base. The Veteranenbos is useless this time but there is another FARP outside the base at the Arnhemse Heide.

FARP Arnhemse Heide is just across the road from the parking of Veteranenbos btw; excellent views here this morning when four Apaches came in to refuel.

Very sorry to hear about the fine. We came across the same guy as we walked back, but as we were back on the path, he sort of only warned us. You could maybe try to appeal the fine, as there just one rather vague tresspassing sign early on.

This morning I was just in time.... to see the US FARP next to Deelen being abandoned. All vehicles left the area.
If anybody see them return or not, would be nice to know.

Do you mean the parking Koningsheide? Or is it somewhere else?
Thanks!

I don't have the knowledge if it is permanent and a move to somewhere else, or just a break-up for the weekend.
A view of someone in the area, might give a clou.

Volgens ADSB is de N-195 nu onderweg naar het noorden, op dit moment vliegt hij ter hoogte van Kampen. Waarschijnlijk heeft ie nog wel wat andere choppers bij zich vermoed ik. Verder geen idee.
