Emirates takes delivery of A350: first new aircraft type in 16 years

Post by YS11 »

Emirates took delivery of the first Airbus A350-900 at the Toulouse plant on Monday. The aircraft, with registration A6-EXA, will fly to its home base in Dubai later in the day. It is the first time since 2008 that Emirates has taken delivery of a new aircraft type.

In the years up to 2016, the airline continued to simplify its fleet, with the farewell of the Airbus A330s and A340s, among others. Since then, Emirates has only operated passenger flights with the Airbus A380 and several variants of the Boeing 777.

But in the coming years, the number of aircraft types will be expanded considerably. The first was the arrival of the Airbus A350-900s, of which 65 have been ordered. Later, new Boeing 787s and the next generation of Triple Sevens, the 777X, will follow.

Emirates
will deploy the A350 on flights to Edinburgh from January, followed in the following months by destinations such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Mumbai, Lyon, Colombo, Bologna and Ahmedabad. The type to Schiphol has not yet been scheduled.

Emirates has not yet provided images or details about the interior of the A350s.
