Regards,
Nope. We do not fulfill the same role as the spotting groups do.

Guess it would be helpful to list the groups that have been invited. Anyone?

Greetings,
Stefan

Is that this time also possible? Some people warned that time for possible police problems but nothing from that. There where maybe a couple of hundred other spotters.

It states this is for everybody's safety, so I suggest to comply with it without making any problems. Not doing so might be strike back at the whole Dutch spotters society, with lots of opportunities falling away.
Where do you find that the Bitgumerdijk is closed ? The only thing I see at the topic is ,,Op deze manier willen we onnodige drukte voorkomen op beide spottersplaatsen,,
In 2006 some people said on a topic that all the spottersplaces should be closed and even the highway should be.
This was also at Volkel and Gilze but I (and a lot with me) had never any problems.
It looks a bit that some people would have the arriving days for their own.

And what about all those foreign visitors who come to the arrival day and do not read this forum... and wander into the field

Foreign (and also local) visitors who wander in the fields on the arrival day WITHOUT the permission of the farmer(s) will have a visit by the police very quickly.
I will try to find out soon what will be the policy by the police and farmers on that particular day.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, please don't turn this great opportunity, which is provided by Leeuwarden Air Base, into a pissing contest like last year at Volkel , but keep it civil and be happy. For me it is great that Leeuwarden has organized a spottersday on the arrival days of the aircraft. That is a first. I hope to be on the base that day. For the record. I wish everyone the best photo-opportunities possible and lots of sunny weather. 8) 8)

Two years ago there was a friendly farmer who allowed us onto his field on Thursday.
He did charge a small fee for this, but it served everyone, as we were off the road, and had a perfect position to photograph the arriving aircraft.

Maybe someone who lives in the vicinity of EHLW could contact him to ask if he will do the same this year.
I believe this field is situated on the side of Marssum.

As far as i know that was possible because his field wasn't included in the assigned restricted area.

Sorry I misread, The closure is for the showdates (of course you can be at the airfield itself then, but you have to accept that terrible commentary)

Just been in contact with the KLu about the spottershill near beginning 06 (Marssum side).
At this moment the Hill will NOT be closed on the 19e, so when runway 06 is in use everyone who can't go to the spottersday can go here.
Let's hope they will not change this decission :D

They knew nothing about what will happen on the 24 side of the field on that day.
Last airshow i had arranged with the farmer that we could go into his field after paying a small fee, but 2 days before this date the police forbid this arrangement.
So i have to find out what the policy of the police will be this time before i can arrange again something with the farmer.
I will keep you posted.

Spotting Group Volkel

Spotting Group Maastricht
Eelde Aviation Society
Gilze Rijen Aviation Society
Eindhoven Welschap Aviation Society

Sorry if I forgot one or two, only registerd Dutch aviation groups.
How to define a group, well they arrange group visit for there society, have social evenings, member meetings, member passes etc.
So you could say more like regional spotting groups.

You know what I mean... I hope

So what about foreign spotters? As far as I remember last time it was no problem for foreigners to join the spottersday even without being member of a dutch spottersgroup.
I found this rule a little bit discriminative and I am not planning to join a dutch spottersgroup just for the spottersday. What will you guys say if for example the spottersday at KB will be only for belgian spottergroups or the french spotterdays only for french etc etc...??? Will you join a spottersgroup in every country you visit for a spottersday? Ridiculous.

Felle.

It's just the second time there is a spottersday at the RNLAF Open Days. (and the first time and maybe last time at LWD), so I think we have to build up some confidence at the Air Force. Further they want to have a limited number to keep the thing in hands and a spotter from each group that can be held responsible for the behaviour of that group's spotters, if anyone should misbehave. At future shows they might drop this if all goes according to plan.

What I heard KB had the problem last year some parts went out of control, (traffic for instance), so maybe in the future, they are going to implement this kind of rules there to.

Hi Felle,

It is what it is; you can join if you are a member of a Dutch spotting group (listed on the previous pages). Their memberships are open to foreigners. For the rest it is not up to us (as in; anyone around on this messageboard) to change this. The decision has been made by the air force so any complaints should be addressed to them; LW.CSOStafVoorlichting@mindef.nl

Greetings,
Stefan

In addition to Stefans words, any foreigner can become member of a Dutch spotting group such as SGV. An SGV membership is even cheaper than attending a single spottersday at Kleine Brogel. Since the spotters day at Leeuwarden is free of charge (like any Dutch event, defense is simply not allowed to charge money for this...), you will be cheaper of!

Further more, and I stressed this last year as well, why are so many people who don't have any intention at all to join the event, the main complainers about this? Does anyone have an answer to this one? Anyone?
